About me
I graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in 2011 and began my psychiatric residency training at Ankara Numune Training and Research Hospital in 2012. During the first year of my residency, I worked in a psychiatric inpatient unit, where I was involved in the assessment and treatment of patients diagnosed with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. That same year, I attended the Sleep and Sleep Disorders course organized by the Psychiatric Association of Turkey (PAT).
During my residency, I developed a strong interest in psychoanalytically oriented psychotherapy and received approximately three years of supervision in psychoanalytic psychotherapy under Ülkü Gürışık. Between 2014 and 2015, I also completed Family and Couple Therapy Training led by Prof. Dr. Hürol Fışıloğlu. I am currently continuing my professional development in couples therapy through training provided by the Gottman Institute.
As part of my specialist training, I completed clinical rotations in neurology, child and adolescent psychiatry, and emergency psychiatry. In 2015, I worked at the Alcohol and Drug Addiction Treatment Center (AMATEM), where I further developed my knowledge and clinical skills in addiction psychiatry.
I completed my psychiatric residency in 2016 and subsequently began working as a psychiatrist at Ankara Dışkapı Training and Research Hospital. During this period, I participated in the Supportive Psychotherapy Training program offered by PAT and obtained certification as a supportive psychotherapist.
In 2018, I was awarded Board Certification in Psychiatry by PAT. I also completed Behavioral and Cognitive Therapy Training provided by the Cognitive Behavioral Psychotherapies Association (BDTD), as well as Sexual Therapy Training offered by the Sexual Education, Treatment and Research Association (CETAD).
In addition, I have completed training in Compassion-Focused Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and am currently continuing my education in EMDR for Complicated Grief.
In 2021, I was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor in Turkey. In 2022, I completed my PhD in the Department of Mental Health and Neuroscience at Maastricht University. My doctoral dissertation was titled “Utilizing the Exposome Score for Schizophrenia to Predict Mental Health Outcomes.”

I am currently in the final stage of the Counselling Psychology – Accelerated Programme at Stichting Counselling Nederland.
My medical and psychiatric qualifications and clinical experience were obtained in Türkiye. I am currently in the process (I completed language fase, I will take exams) of obtaining BIG registration (the Dutch register for regulated healthcare professions) in order to practise as a physician in the Netherlands; until this process is complete, I do not practise as a doctor or psychiatrist here.
My current private practice, GE Counseling, focuses on psychosocial counselling and complementary psychosocial care. I do not provide medical or psychiatric treatment, diagnosis, or medication management through this practice.
Currently, I work in my private practice -GE Counseling- in Amsterdam, where I provide psychosocial counselling and complementary psychosocial support.
